SGPC Organises Nagar Kirtan Marking 350 Years of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s Sacrifice

350th Year of Martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji
Shaheedi Nagar Kirtan, commenced from Assam, departs from Karimnagar (Telangana) towards Hyderabad

As part of the 350th year commemoration of the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has organised a Shaheedi Nagar Kirtan which began from Gurdwara Dhoabri Sahib, Assam. Today, the Nagar Kirtan departed from Gurdwara Sahib Gobind Nagar, Karimnagar, heading towards Hyderabad, Telangana.
Before the procession began, religious congregations were held at the Gurdwara Sahib, where the Hazoori Ragi Jatha of Sri Darbar Sahib performed Gurbani Kirtan. On this occasion, Singh Sahib Giani Sultan Singh, Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, shared the life history of the Ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, with the devotees. He appealed to the Sangat to take inspiration from Guru Sahib’s life and live by the principles of Bani and Bana.
At the time of the Nagar Kirtan’s departure, the Gurdwara Sahib management honoured the Panj Piare Sahibaan and other distinguished personalities with Siropao (robes of honour). People of different faiths expressed deep reverence for this historic Nagar Kirtan, showering flowers on the palki carrying Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
On the route, S. Jasbir Singh Lohian and his family rendered seva by providing fuel for the palki and the vehicles carrying the holy arms (shastars).
On this occasion, SGPC Junior Meet S. Baldev Singh Kalyan, Meet Secretary S. Kuldeep Singh Rode, Incharge S. Gurmej Singh, Manager S. Narinder Singh Mathrewal, Supervisor S. Harbhajan Singh, S. Harvinder Singh Verka, S. Ram Singh Mumbai, Head Preacher Bhai Jagdev Singh, Preacher Bhai Harjit Singh Sultanpur Lodhi, and a large number of devotees were present.
