Pakistan Sets Local Government Election Date for 15 February 2026

Pakistan’s Election Commission has rung the first bell for the upcoming local government (LG) elections, releasing the complete schedule for the countrywide polls. According to the announcement, voters will head to the polls on 15 February 2026, while nomination papers will be accepted starting 22 December 2025.
The election process officially begins on 19 December 2025, when public notices and nomination forms will be issued. All administrative preparations are expected to be finalized by 16 January 2026.
The Election Commission has urged all political parties and independent candidates to strictly follow the timeline and complete their preparations within the given schedule.

• Submission of nomination papers: 22–27 December 2025
• Scrutiny of nomination papers: 30 December 2025 – 3 January 2026
• Appeals period: 5–8 January 2026
• Decisions on appeals: 9–13 January 2026
• Withdrawal of candidature: 15 January 2026
• Final list & symbols issued: 16 January 2026
• Polling day: 15 February 2026 (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
• Compilation of results: 16–19 February 2026
Officials note that these dates were finalized after consistent pressure from the government to expedite the announcement. Political analysts say that with the schedule now confirmed, all major parties are fully prepared to step into the electoral field.
