Five Singh Sahibans Declare Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh ‘Guru’s Adversary’ and ‘Anti-Khalsa Panth’;

Summon Sikh Ministers and MLAs Over Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act*
Sri Amritsar, June 15- Kanwar Partap Singh/ Tajeemnoor Kaur-A gathering of the five Singh Sahibans (Sikh clergy) was held at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Monday, during which two important resolutions were unanimously passed concerning Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh and the Punjab government's handling of Sikh religious matters.
In the first resolution,

the Singh Sahibans deliberated on The Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, which was passed by the Punjab Government without consulting central Sikh institutions. The meeting noted that Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan had been summoned on May 8 and given 15 days to facilitate amendments in accordance with Sikh sentiments. Written objections from Sri Akal Takht Sahib were also formally sent to the Punjab Government through Speaker Kultar Singh on May 11.
,in the resolution stated that the state government ignored the objections and adopted what it described as an “obstinate and arrogant” attitude. It further said that chief minister Bhagwant Singh, through his public statements, challenged the authority of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, causing resentment within the Sikh community and creating divisions among Sikhs in Punjab.
In the matter of the Act, the five Singh Sahibans decided to summon Sikh ministers in the Punjab Government’s Cabinet *except chief minister Bhagwant Singh* and Sikh MLAs from various political parties to the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib on June 29, 2026. Written explanations will also be sought from non-Sikh ministers of the Punjab Cabinet.

In a second resolution, the gathering discussed a controversial video submitted as part of a complaint against chief minister Bhagwant Singh on January 4, 2026. The resolution stated that when summoned by Sri Akal Takht Sahib on January 15, chief minister Bhagwant Singh had claimed the video was fake and generated through Artificial Intelligence (AI). Chief minister was subsequently asked to suggest two forensic laboratories for examination of the video, and a formal letter was sent on January 27. According to the resolution, no response was received from the chief minister or his office.
The resolution further stated that Sri Akal Takht Sahib independently obtained forensic examinations from two Government of India-recognized laboratories. Reports dated May 27, 2026 and June 13, 2026, concluded that the video is authentic and showed no evidence of tampering or AI-generated manipulation.
The video shows Bhagwant Singh sprinkling liquor on a widely recognized symbolic pictures of the ten revered Sikh Gurus and engaging in highly objectionable acts involving the photograph of Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale, a prominent Sikh figure and martyr of the 20th century, while also splashing liquor on his image. The Guru Khalsa Panth cannot tolerate such actions under any circumstances.
The issue was also discussed in a broader meeting at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Monday, attended by Panthic organizations, traditional Sikh sampradas, Dal Panths, scholars and legal experts. Participants expressed the view that Bhagwant Singh should be declared a “Guru Dokhi” (Guru’s adversary) and “Khalsa Panth Virodhi” (Anti-Khalsa Panth). The meeting observed that the office of a chief minister is highly respected and carries the responsibility of representing every citizen of the state. It further noted that Bhagwant Singh made false statements before Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding the video, raising concerns about his ability to make decisions in the interests of the Guru and the Sikh community while serving as Chief Minister.

Representing what it described as the sentiments of the Sikh Sangat, the gathering of the five Singh Sahibans formally declared Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Singh as Guru’s adversary and Anti-Khalsa Panth, and directed members of the Guru Khalsa Panth not to associate with him.
