Maryam Nawaz’s Daughter Mahnoor Safdar Marries Azan Jabbar in Private Jati Umra Ceremony

Intimate nikah at Sharif family residence attended by close relatives and senior family members

LAHORE (Nazrana Times): Mahnoor Safdar, the youngest daughter of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and retired Captain Muhammad Safdar, solemnised her nikah with Azan Jabbar on Saturday in a private family ceremony at Jati Umra, near Lahore.
The ceremony was kept largely away from the public spotlight, with close relatives and selected family guests invited to attend. Media reports had earlier put the expected guest list at around 100 people.

Azan Jabbar is the son of businessman and industrialist Jabbar Khalid, who is associated with Pakistan’s flour-milling industry. Reports described the marriage as an arranged match between the two families, while relatively few details about the groom have been made public.

Senior members of the Sharif family gathered in Lahore for the occasion. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz were reported to be in the city for the family event. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other senior political figures were also reported among those attending or gathering at Jati Umra for the ceremony.

Mahnoor’s father, Captain (retd.) Muhammad Safdar, also travelled to Lahore to join the family celebrations.

Nikah Comes Days After Mahnoor’s Graduation

The family occasion came shortly after Mahnoor completed her studies at SOAS University of London.

Mahnoor studied anthropology at the university, whose 2026 graduation ceremonies were held in London from September 8 to 10. Maryam Nawaz travelled to London for her daughter’s graduation before returning to Pakistan.

Maryam publicly expressed her happiness over the academic milestone, noting that all three of her children had now completed their higher education.

Mahnoor is the youngest of Maryam Nawaz and Muhammad Safdar’s three children. Her siblings are Mehr-un-Nisa Safdar and Junaid Safdar. Unlike several members of the politically prominent Sharif family, Mahnoor has generally maintained a low public profile.

Saturday’s intimate ceremony also presented a contrast with the larger celebrations surrounding her brother Junaid Safdar’s wedding earlier this year.

No official announcement has so far been made regarding any larger reception or additional wedding celebrations for Mahnoor and Azan.
