FIA Launches Inquiry into Alleged Illegal Promotions in ETPB

The sudden action by the FIA has created a stir within the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) as the Anti-Corruption Circle has officially launched an inquiry into alleged illegal promotions and the resulting heavy losses to the national exchequer. The FIA has also demanded complete records from the ETPB.
The inquiry was initiated based on a complaint filed by a citizen, Tahir Mahmood, who alleged that some officials of the board obtained illegal promotions from BS-18 to BS-19 in violation of rules, and consequently received unauthorized salaries and benefits, causing a loss of millions of rupees to the national treasury.
In an official letter sent to the Chairman of the Evacuee Trust Property Board, the FIA made it clear that, in order to complete the investigation on merit, the board must immediately provide all relevant records — including details of promotions, ACRs, signatories, disciplinary actions, posting orders, DPC evidence, personal files, and related course records. The letter also warned that legal action would be taken if the required documents were not provided promptly.
Following the initiation of the probe, unease has spread within the department, and sources indicate that if the alleged irregularities are confirmed, the scope of the investigation may expand further, potentially resulting in legal consequences for several officers. The FIA has also sought an “immediate response” from the ETPB administration.
