Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swati attended a special cake-cutting ceremony held at the Provincial Assembly to mark the 556th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj.
The ceremony was organized by Mr. Gurpal Singh, Minority MPA from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), and was attended by all minority members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, minority leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), and representatives from various religious and social communities.
During the event, participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting religious harmony, tolerance, and mutual respect across the province.
In his address, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati stated that minorities are an integral and respected part of Pakistan’s federation, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He reiterated the government and the Assembly’s strong commitment to protecting the rights of minorities and ensuring their religious freedom and equal opportunities.
He further said that the teachings of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj embody the universal message of love, humanity, equality, and peace — values that continue to guide us towards harmony and brotherhood today.
A special cake-cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the 556th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. The participants collectively renewed their pledge to uphold the spirit of unity, peace, and respect for all religions.
Speaker Babar Saleem Swati congratulated MPA Gurpal Singh for organizing such a dignified and meaningful event and extended heartfelt greetings to all participants on the auspicious occasion of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj’s birth anniversary.
Life and Teachings of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj:
Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj (1469–1539) was the founder of Sikhism and one of the most revered spiritual leaders of the Indian subcontinent. He courageously spoke out against social injustice, caste discrimination, and religious intolerance of his time. His teachings emphasize truth, honesty, service to humanity, and respect for all faiths.
His core message — “Ik Onkar,” meaning One God — promotes the oneness of humanity and equality of all people. The timeless wisdom of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji continues to inspire peace, tolerance, and compassion across the world.
