CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Visits Sialkot & Wazirabad to Review Flood Situation

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited Sialkot and Wazirabad to personally assess the ongoing flood situation. She reached the Sohdra area of Wazirabad to inspect the flood relief camp set up at Sohdra School and met with flood-affected families.

The Chief Minister expressed heartfelt condolences to the parents of children who drowned in the flood and consoled grieving family members, including the parents of 22-year-old Chand. She also commended the local youth who helped save lives during the disaster.

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif personally served food to flood-affected families and children at the relief camp, demonstrating empathy and solidarity. She instructed the administration to conduct a door-to-door survey to assess damages and make immediate arrangements for dry fodder for livestock.

The Chief Minister also directed the Deputy Commissioner to ensure prompt medical treatment for the father of a youth who drowned and reviewed the availability of medicines and medical facilities at the camp. She inspected livestock stalls and veterinary supplies. Officials confirmed that 13 mobile health clinics are operating day and night in flood-affected areas.

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif distributed food packets among flood victims. The Deputy Commissioner reported that 50 people stranded in flood-hit areas were safely rescued with the assistance of the Pakistan Army via helicopter. Following her directives, 30 dewatering pumps are operating day and night to drain floodwater from settlements.

Flood Impact Statistics:

66 villages fully affected and 120 partially affected in Sohdra

61,000 stranded people safely relocated

129,000 people evacuated from partially affected areas

25,000 livestock relocated to safe locations

10,000 people in safe areas are being provided three meals daily

Police and Civil Defense posts established to maintain law and order and protect lives and property.
