Medical Experts Stress Awareness, Screening and Timely Diagnosis of Gynaecological Cancers

A special symposium titled “Bridging Specialties in Gynaecological Oncology” was held in collaboration between Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Fatima Jinnah Medical University under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahra Khanum.
Observed in September, Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month provided the occasion for the symposium, which was organized by Prof. Dr. Madiha Rashid, Head of the Department of Gynaecological Oncology. Medical experts emphasized the importance of timely diagnosis, screening and coordination among specialties in the care of women affected by gynaecological cancers.
Addressing the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahra Khanum said public awareness of gynaecological cancers needed to be increased. She stressed that effective collaboration among different medical specialties was essential for improving patient care. She added that Fatima Jinnah Medical University was actively working to promote timely diagnosis and quality cancer treatment.

Prof. Dr. Madiha Rashid said affected women needed timely access to comprehensive, quality medical care. She noted that early diagnosis and appropriate treatment could support faster recovery. She added that specialists and resources for cancer treatment were available, while greater public awareness of the disease and its treatment remained necessary.
Dr. Rashid said awareness initiatives and programs promoting timely diagnosis of gynaecological cancers would continue to be organized.
Prof. Dr. Sardar Al-Fareed Zafar, Prof. Dr. Shamsa Humayun, Prof. Dr. Ayesha Malik, Prof. Dr. Shumaila Ijaz Munir and Dr. Saman Chaudhry also addressed the symposium.
Distinguished professors, medical experts and clinicians participated in the event. Speakers highlighted the importance of screening and timely referral for women with suspected gynaecological cancers.
