Taking serious note of two separate incidents—one involving the assault of an elderly hardworking Sikh at Rampura Phul in Bathinda district and the other concerning the beating of a Sikh youth by some miscreants in Sri Muktsar Sahib—the officiating Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, has directed the Punjab Police to take immediate and strict legal action against those responsible in both cases.
In a statement issued from the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj stated that a Gursikh elder, Jagtar Singh, was assaulted near the Barnala-Bathinda road at Rampura Phul while he was engaged in his work. The attacker, reportedly under the influence of intoxicants, not only beat him but also insulted his religious symbols by tearing off his beard, disrespecting his turban, and even ripping his clothes. He emphasized that such an incident happening to a hardworking Sikh within Punjab is extremely painful and worrisome. “If people cannot even work in a peaceful and safe environment, where are they supposed to go?” the Jathedar questioned.

In this case, Jathedar Gargajj, through Secretariat officials, contacted Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Bathinda, Amneet Kondal, and asked her to take action against the accused person under serious legal sections, including those pertaining to hurting religious sentiments.
Regarding the incident at Sri Muktsar Sahib, where some miscreants assaulted a Sikh youth traveling in his car, Jathedar Gargajj directed similar action. In this case, Sri Muktsar Sahib SSP Dr. Akhil Chaudhary was contacted and asked to ensure that strict legal proceedings are initiated against the culprits. He added that there is widespread resentment among Sikh organizations following Sri Muktsar Sahib incident, and if the government fails to take prompt and tough action, it will bear full responsibility for any consequences. In the case of the incident at Sri Muktsar Sahib, to talk to the Sikh youth concerned and inquire about his condition, as per the orders of Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Sri Muktsar Sahib Baldev Singh also reached along with his team.

Jathedar Gargajj emphasized that it is the duty of the Punjab government and police to provide a secure environment to all citizens, particularly the Sikh community, and to prevent any actions that could harm inter-community harmony. He noted that miscreants occasionally try to disrupt the communal fabric of Punjab, but such efforts must never be allowed to succeed.
