Leipzig, August 26: , Tajeemnoor Kaur - With the blessings of the Almighty, a grand Nagar Kirtan was held with great devotion and Khalsa spirit in Dresden, the capital of the German state of Saxony. It was the first such grand Nagar Kirtan in Dresden and the second in the state of Saxony.

The Nagar Kirtan was organised on Monday, August 24, by the management committee of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar Dresden and the local Sikh Sangat, with the support and participation of Sikh communities from across Germany and other European countries.
Led by the Panj Pyare and held under the sacred presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Nagar Kirtan began amid the beats of the traditional Nagara and the sounds of Narsinghas, reflecting the spirit and splendour of the Khalsa.
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was respectfully brought from Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar Dresden to a specially prepared venue at Altmarkt Dresden, where religious congregations were held. 

The programme featured Shabad Kirtan, Kavishri and traditional Dhadi Vaars.
Addressing the congregation, Bibi Gurdishpal Kaur Bajwa of Leipzig spoke about the significance and spiritual importance of Nagar Kirtan. She appealed to the Sangat to maintain the utmost respect and Sikh religious discipline throughout the procession and to participate with love, harmony, Naam Simran and Shabad singing.
She said the gathering also provided an important opportunity to present the distinctive Sikh identity, values and traditions before the wider German and European community.
Following Ardas, the Nagar Kirtan began its procession through central Dresden. Sikh devotees from Germany, Italy, Austria, Poland, Slovakia and several other European countries participated with great enthusiasm, devotion and reverence.
After completing the procession through central Dresden, the Nagar Kirtan returned to Altmarkt, where young Sikhs demonstrated Gatka, the traditional Sikh martial art, showcasing an important part of Sikh heritage.

S. Jaswant Singh Dhaliwal, Mukh Sewadar of the management committee of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Teltow, Berlin, praised the collective initiative undertaken by Gurdwara management committees in eastern Germany and congratulated the entire Sangat on the successful event.
S. Baljit Singh Bhullar, Mukh Sewadar of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar Dresden, thanked the Sangat and all those who contributed to the various services during the Nagar Kirtan.
He acknowledged the contribution of the management committees and Sangat associated with Gurdwara Guru Ram Das Ji Freital-Dresden, Gurdwara Gurmat Prachar Leipzig, Gurdwara Singh Sabha Chemnitz, Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Teltow Berlin, Gurdwara Singh Sabha Berlin and Gurdwara Sarbat Da Bhala Erfurt, along with other participating Gurdwaras and Sikh organisations in eastern Germany.
He particularly thanked Bhai Mukhtiar Singh Ji, Mukh Sewadar of the Gurdwara management committee in Chemnitz, for devotedly serving alongside the Panj Pyare, Nishanchi Singhs and the Sewadars attending Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Special appreciation was also expressed for S. Baldev Singh Bajwa, Director of Media Punjab Germany and Mukh Sewadar of the Gurdwara management committee in Leipzig, for extending support in making the event successful and particularly for broadcasting the Nagar Kirtan live on YouTube for viewers around the world.

The organisers also thanked Bhai Harinderjit Singh, Head Granthi of the Gurdwara; Bhai Hardeep Singh Manochahal and his Dhadi Jatha; Bhai Jagjit Singh Ramidi, Kavishar; Bhai Jasvir Singh Jassi; Bhai Davinderjit Singh from Italy; Bhai Satnam Singh Sarhali from Italy; and all the children who participated and inspired the Sangat through devotional presentations and the singing of the praises of the Guru.
The organisers further acknowledged S. Baldev Singh Bajwa of Leipzig, S. Mukhtiar Singh of Chemnitz, S. Surinder Pal Tinku of Erfurt, S. Baljinder Singh Pannu of Berlin and S. Jaswant Singh Dhaliwal of Berlin for their cooperation in arranging transportation for the Sangat, Langar and other essential services.
Bhai Harinderjit Singh, Bhai Jagjit Singh Ramidi, Jatinder Singh Goraya, Ravisheer Singh Pannu, Hartaran Singh Bhangu, Inderjit Singh Dhillon, Rajinder Singh Chahal, Makhan Singh Padda, Amarjit Singh Sandhu, Sahab Singh Bhinder and Harjinder Singh Badesha, along with the management committee of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar Dresden and the entire Sangat, contributed to the successful organisation of the event.
The grand Nagar Kirtan concluded with a strong message of universal brotherhood, human unity, mutual respect and “Sarbat Da Bhala” — the Sikh principle of seeking the welfare of all humanity.
