On the directives of the Chief Minister Punjab, Pakistan’s first-of-its-kind Airlift Drone Rescue and Relief Operation is underway. According to details, in the flood-affected districts of South Punjab, the Home Department’s airlift drones are locating stranded individuals in remote and inaccessible areas and delivering food and medicines to them.

The spokesperson of the Home Department Punjab stated that in locations where boats cannot reach, drones are being used to deliver up to 200 kilograms of food, medicines, and relief items at a time. Punjab Home Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi and Director Civil Defence Rao Tasneem Ali Khan are personally visiting the affected areas to supervise the drone relief operation.

The spokesperson added that the ongoing rescue and relief operation in South Punjab is the first in Pakistan to utilize such advanced technology. Thanks to this innovation, Punjab Civil Defence has become a beacon of hope for flood victims, successfully delivering essential supplies to stranded people even more than 50 kilometers away with the help of drones.

The spokesperson further said that the Civil Defence teams are also using drones to locate stranded persons in distant areas. These airlift drones have the capacity to carry and safely transport up to 200 kilograms of supplies or even a person to designated locations.

He informed that relief is being provided round the clock, and both the Home Secretary and Director Civil Defence are personally present in the field to monitor operations. He added that this is Pakistan’s first rescue and relief mission in which drones are being used to airlift people safely from inaccessible and high-risk locations.

The spokesperson said that the Chief Minister Punjab has directed the immediate purchase of 10 more airlift drones. Trained personnel and volunteers of Punjab Civil Defence are actively working in the flood-hit areas to save precious lives and provide maximum assistance. He further added that all relevant departments and officers in Punjab are engaged 24/7 in relief efforts for the flood victims.
