PM Shehbaz, Army Chief Visit Bannu, Attend Funeral of 12 Martyred Soldiers

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Bannu on Saturday to review the security situation and ongoing counterterrorism operations in the region.

According to security sources, both leaders attended a high-level meeting where they were briefed on the recent surge in terrorist activity and the military’s response. The meeting also discussed operational strategies and measures to strengthen security in the tribal districts.

During the visit, the Prime Minister and the Army Chief attended the funeral prayers of 12 soldiers who embraced martyrdom in a recent South Waziristan operation. They paid glowing tributes to the fallen heroes, acknowledging their supreme sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism, stressing that the nation would not tolerate any ambiguity in this mission. He assured that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not go in vain and that operations against militant networks would continue with full force.

The visit highlighted the government and military’s joint commitment to restoring peace in the region and honoring the sacrifices of security personnel who continue to defend the country against terrorist threats.
