Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, the officiating head of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has taken strong notice of a recently published AI-animated video by YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, which depicts Sikh Gurus and the Sahibzadas.

In a statement issued by the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Jathedar Gargajj stated that by releasing such a video, Dhruv Rathee has insulted Sikh traditions, history, and sentiments. He emphasized that Sikh principles clearly prohibit the visual representation or animation of the Gurus, the Sahibzadas, members of the Guru’s family, and Sikh martyrs.

Jathedar Gargajj sternly instructed Dhruv Rathee to remove the objectionable video from his channel without delay. He further mentioned that during a recent gathering at Sri Akal Takht Sahib concerning films, the matter of AI animation was also seriously discussed. A meeting with experts in this technology will soon be held to formulate a concrete policy aimed at decisively preventing such anti-Gurmat actions.

He expressed concern that in today’s technological era, the issue of films relating to Sikh history has become even more serious, and a serious solution must be found accordingly.

Jathedar Gargajj also directed the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to contact the relevant government ministries regarding Dhruv Rathee’s video and ensure it is taken down. He further instructed the SGPC to widely publicize its past resolutions and decisions regarding films in various languages to ensure that such actions are not repeated in the future.
