Pakistani Army Chief Attends CENTCOM Change of Command in Tampa

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), is on an official visit to the United States, engaging in a series of high-level meetings aimed at strengthening defence and diplomatic ties.


In Tampa, COAS attended the retirement ceremony of outgoing United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Michael E. Kurilla and witnessed the change of command to Admiral Brad Cooper. He commended General Kurilla for his leadership and contributions to Pakistan–US military cooperation, while expressing confidence in Admiral Cooper’s ability to continue joint efforts on regional security challenges.

During his visit, COAS also met with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, discussing matters of mutual interest and inviting him to visit Pakistan. On the sidelines, he interacted with defence chiefs from allied nations.


Addressing an interactive session with the Pakistani diaspora, COAS urged overseas Pakistanis to remain confident in the country’s future and contribute to attracting foreign investment. The diaspora reaffirmed their commitment to Pakistan’s development and progress.
