Fourth All Open Hockey Tournament Concludes in Chohla Sahib, Butala Hockey Club Claims Victory

The Fourth All Open Hockey Tournament, organized by Guru Arjan Dev Sports and Cultural Club, Chohla Sahib, with the special support of local residents and NRIs, concluded successfully, leaving behind unforgettable memories. The final match, held at Guru Arjan Dev Hockey Stadium, took place between California Romi Club and Butala Hockey Club, where Butala Hockey Club showcased an exceptional performance and clinched the winner’s trophy. The California Romi Club had to settle for the runner-up position.
The winning and runner-up teams were honored with cash prizes of ₹81,000 and ₹71,000, along with special trophies. In addition, other participating teams and players were also recognized for their efforts. To promote hockey further, the club organized two separate matches for young children.The event saw the presence of special guests, including Harjeet Singh Sandhu, Chairman of the Market Committee Naushera Pannuan, and Amrinder Singh Amy, Chairman of the Market Committee Khadoor Sahib. On behalf of MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpora, a financial grant of ₹50,000 was presented to the club.
Addressing the gathering, Harjeet Singh Sandhu stated that the AAP-led Punjab government is actively encouraging youth to stay away from drugs and engage in sports. Under the 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan' initiative, sports grounds are being developed in villages, and new gym facilities are being established for the youth. He assured that more steps would be taken in the future to further promote sports in the state. He also appreciated the efforts of Guru Arjan Dev Sports Club for organizing such a prestigious hockey tournament in rural areas.
The special guests were honored during the event.The tournament lasted for three days and was made successful with the efforts of chief organizers Jagtar Singh Jagga, Jaggi Pehalwan (USA), Vassan Singh (Hong Kong), Sarpanch Keval Chohla, Dr. Yuddhbir Singh, Master Gurnam Singh Dhun, Principal Kashmir Singh Sandhu, and several others who played key roles in the event’s success.
