Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday confirmed the release of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan from Israeli detention, saying Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts had “borne fruit.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mr Dar said that the former lawmaker was now “safe and in good health” at the Pakistan Embassy in Amman, Jordan, following his release from custody.
Mr Khan had been detained by Israeli forces after joining the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian aid mission seeking to deliver relief supplies to Gaza. The Foreign Office earlier stated that Pakistan had been in close contact with Jordanian authorities to secure his release.
The minister added that arrangements were being made for Mr Khan’s safe return to Pakistan.
Following his release, Mr Khan expressed gratitude to the people of Pakistan and vowed to continue supporting the Palestinian cause.
