Amritpal Singh, MP from Khadoor Sahib, has filed a petition in the High Court. In this petition, he has requested the High Court to allow him to attend the Lok Sabha session. The petition (Amritpal Singh granted bail) states that if he does not attend the Lok Sabha session for 60 consecutive days, his Lok Sabha membership may be cancelled. Therefore, it is expected that he may get parole for the session. Let us tell you that earlier, the Delhi High Court had allowed two days of ‘custodial parole’ to the jailed Jammu and Kashmir MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh alias Rashid Engineer to attend the ongoing session of Parliament.

Rashid, who is a Lok Sabha member from Baramulla parliamentary constituency in Jammu and Kashmir, is facing trial in a terror funding case related to allegations of funding separatists and terrorist groups in Jammu and Kashmir and is in jail.

Amritpal said that the Lok Sabha Secretary has written to him saying that he has been absent from the Lok Sabha for 46 days so far. First from June 24 to July 2 and

then for 19 days between July 22 and August 9. After this, he was absent for 18 days from November 25 to December 12.

Amritpal said that he is now a MP from Khadoor Sahib and to attend the session of Parliament, he had made a demand to the Lok Sabha Speaker last year that he should attend the Lok Sabha session. Later, on December 17, a memorandum was given to the DC of Amritsar regarding this demand, which was rejected.

Therefore, now they have filed a petition in the High Court regarding the demand. This petition will be heard in the court in a few days.
