Bomb threats disrupt European flights; Heathrow and Birmingham alerts deemed not credible

LONDON, November 6, 2026 (Nazrana Times): Bomb threats targeting flights across several European countries have prompted diversions and security searches. Threats involving Britain’s Heathrow and Birmingham airports were assessed as not credible, and operations at both airports continued normally.

According to media reports, more than 30 flights across Europe faced security alerts or diversions during the week. Authorities in several countries carried out checks on aircraft and baggage after receiving threats.

Dublin–Rome flight diverted to France

An Aer Lingus flight travelling from Dublin to Rome was diverted to Évreux military air base in northern France following a bomb threat. A security search was conducted after the aircraft landed, and nothing of concern was found.

Government takes threats seriously: Alexander

Britain’s Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander said the government took such threats seriously. She described the alerts affecting a small number of European flights as malicious hoax threats.

Authorities assessed the warnings involving Heathrow and Birmingham and determined that they were not credible. Neither airport suspended normal operations because of the threats.

Investigations into threats continue

European security and investigative authorities are examining the source of the threats and possible connections between the incidents. The available information does not establish responsibility on the part of any particular country, organisation or individual.
