LAHORE (Nazrana Times): Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora said 80 students from 40 universities across the province had been selected as Interfaith Student Ambassadors to promote peace, tolerance, mutual respect and understanding on their campuses.

He was addressing the closing ceremony of a two-day training workshop organised by the Punjab Human Rights and Minority Affairs Department under the Interfaith Student Ambassador Programme. Arora attended as chief guest.

Campus Activities to Encourage Dialogue

The minister said the ambassadors would organise awareness sessions, constructive dialogue and other campus activities to strengthen understanding among students from different religious and cultural backgrounds.

He said the programme aimed to encourage tolerance, equality, acceptance and mutual respect among young people. Respecting the beliefs, values and traditions of different faith communities, he added, was a collective responsibility.

Youth Engagement for a More Inclusive Society

Arora described involving young people as ambassadors of interfaith harmony as an important step towards building a peaceful, inclusive and tolerant society.

Referring to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision, he said the provincial government was working to create an environment where diversity was respected and young people were encouraged to contribute to social cohesion and peaceful coexistence.

Programme Launched on Minorities Day

The minister said the programme was launched on August 11, 2026, to mark Minorities Day. Selected students are receiving training support, certificates and special kits to help them advance its objectives at their institutions.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to involving young people in promoting peace, brotherhood, equality and interfaith harmony across Punjab. Empowering the younger generation to lead positive social change, he said, was essential to ensuring dignity and equal opportunities for every individual.
