SGPC Provides 38,000 Litres of Diesel for Strengthening Flood-Affected Villages’ Embankments in Sultanpur Lodhi
Amritsar, September 25 Tajeemnoor Kaur
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami today met representatives of flood-affected villages at Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi, assuring them of full support.
He criticised the government for failing to manage water release from dams in time, saying the floods were worsened by negligence. To aid local efforts, the SGPC has arranged 38,000 litres of diesel to help villagers strengthen embankments.
Out of this, 20,000 litres have been allocated for Aahli Kalan, one of the most affected areas, while diesel has also been distributed to Baupur, Dhunda, Chakkwala, and Sagra villages. 8,000 litres were handed over on-site today.
Dhami also announced that the SGPC will arrange wheat seeds for nearly one lakh acres of sowing and provide ₹50,000 financial aid to each affected gurdwara.
Local villagers thanked the SGPC for extending timely help during this crisis.
