Hassan Nawaz’s spectacular 96 off 51 balls was not enough to prevent Pakistan from suffering a 19-run defeat against India in the Asian Games 2026 final.
Chasing a challenging target of 212, Pakistan were in trouble early at 39-3. Nawaz then launched a stunning counterattack, smashing five fours and seven sixes while putting together an 87-run partnership with Saim Ayub, who contributed 29.
Nawaz kept Pakistan’s hopes alive until the very end, but was dismissed on the final ball of the innings for 96. Pakistan eventually finished at 192-6, falling 19 runs short of India’s total.
Earlier, India posted 211-6, powered by Abhishek Sharma’s 61 and an unbeaten 51 from Tilak Varma.
The result saw India claim the gold medal, while Pakistan had to settle for silver.
