NEW DEHLI 1 MARCH ,SODH SINGH BAAZ

On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called a review meeting to discuss the Manipur issue. The meeting will be held at the Ministry of Home Affairs and aims to assess the situation after President’s Rule was imposed in Manipur. The meeting will include Manipur’s Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, government officials, army officers, and senior officials of the paramilitary forces.

President’s Rule was imposed in Manipur on February 13. Before that, due to a revolt from some legislators, N. Biren Singh resigned from the position of Chief Minister. After the imposition of President’s Rule, Home Minister Amit Shah is set to hold the first meeting on the situation in Manipur.

According to reports, the meeting will also include National Security Advisor Kuldeep Singh, DGP Rajeev Singh, and Chief Secretary P.K. Singh. The primary objective of the meeting is to restore peace in Manipur.

Since the onset of ethnic violence in Manipur, over 250 people have lost their lives, and thousands have been displaced. Biren Singh faced criticism for his handling of the ethnic clashes in the state. Last year, he apologized to the people of Manipur for the violence, stating, "This entire year has been very difficult. I apologize to the people of the state for everything that happened from May 3 until now. Many people lost their loved ones, and many were forced to leave their homes. I deeply regret this. I hope that normalcy will return to the state in 2025."
