The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has clarified that the country’s newly designed currency notes will not be available before Eid, ending public speculation about fresh banknotes for the upcoming festival season.
SBP officials said that although the designs for new notes have been finalized, the printing process cannot begin until formal approval from the federal cabinet is granted. Due to this administrative process, it is not possible to circulate the new currency in time for Eid.
The central bank added that existing notes will continue to remain in circulation and there will be no special release of fresh notes for Eid this year. Every year, demand for new currency rises before Eid, but SBP noted that people should plan accordingly.
The announcement comes as SBP continues to manage monetary policy and economic stability under ongoing reforms, assuring the public that currency supply will remain normal despite the delay in new designs.
