Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly member, Baba Ji Gorpal Singh, held an important meeting with the Secretary Auqaf, Additional Secretary Relief, and Additional Secretary Finance to discuss the problems faced by families affected by the recent floods in Buner and Swat.

During the meeting, members of the minority community expressed grievances that so far no TMO (Tehsil Municipal Officer) had visited the affected areas, nor had the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) collected data on the affected minority families. MPA Gorpal Singh demanded immediate data collection by the PDMA and directed the concerned departments to conduct urgent visits to the affected regions.

Furthermore, the MPA raised the issue of the destruction of the cremation ground at Pir Baba, which was completely damaged in the recent floods, with the Secretary Auqaf. The Secretary assured swift measures for its restoration and instructed that the community’s concerns be addressed.

MPA Baba Ji Gorpal Singh stated that everyone must work together to deal with this natural disaster. He added that he would continue his efforts until the complete rehabilitation of the affected families and would raise the issue at every forum if necessary.

According to initial reports, around 35 Sikh and Hindu families in Buner and about 10 Christian and Sikh families in Swat Mingora — more than 45 families in total — have been affected. Their homes and properties have suffered severe damage, and they are still awaiting government assistance.
