Historic St. Mary Magdalene Church in Lahore Cantt Restored and Architecturally Illuminated

The Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority (PWCA), with support from the Human Rights and Minority Affairs Department, Government of Punjab, has completed the restoration and architectural illumination of the historic St. Mary Magdalene Church in Lahore Cantt.
Established in 1857, the church is a notable Gothic landmark reflecting Lahore’s colonial-era architectural and religious heritage. The restoration project included conservation work on both the exterior and interior of the historic building, followed by architectural illumination intended to highlight its heritage features.
According to the PWCA, the project is part of continued efforts to safeguard Punjab’s diverse religious and architectural heritage. The initiative seeks to preserve the church’s architectural character while respecting the religious significance of the place of worship and the community it serves.
The authority described the initiative with the message: “Preserving heritage. Respecting faith. Illuminating history.”
