JUI-F’s Gopal Singh Reviews Relief Efforts in Pir Baba, Assures Full Support to Affected Families

Buner Bureau Report (Ali Imran Chattha):

Minority MPA of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Baba Ji Gopal Singh of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, along with his delegation “Singh Sangat”, visited Pir Baba, Buner, to meet affected families and oversee relief activities.

During the visit, MPA Singh distributed relief goods among both Sikh and Muslim communities, including ration, food supplies, free medicines, and prayer mats for the local mosque. At Pir Baba Bazaar’s Jamia Mosque, he also presented Rs. 50,000 in cash assistance along with prayer mats, which was warmly welcomed by the local people.

A free medical camp was also organized, where teams of male and female doctors examined hundreds of patients and provided medicines free of cost. Meeting with the affected minority families, Singh expressed deep sympathy and said that the disaster, triggered by cloudbursts and climate change, had devastated businesses, homes, and lives.

“This is a time of grief, but together we will face and overcome these hardships,” he assured the victims.

Later, the MPA met with the Deputy Commissioner and senior officers, where discussions focused on rehabilitation, electricity restoration, and fair distribution of relief goods. He praised the Pakistan Army and welfare organizations for their tireless efforts, calling their role “encouraging for the victims.”

According to local updates, Pir Baba and surrounding areas have been severely affected, with several villages reporting damaged houses, halted businesses, and disrupted electricity and clean water supplies. Rescue teams and the army are working to reopen blocked roads caused by landslides. Many families remain in temporary shelters, dependent on relief assistance.

Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, recent rains and cloudbursts have claimed hundreds of lives and displaced thousands, particularly in Hazara Division, Swat, Buner, and Dir. The provincial government has allocated emergency funds, while Pakistan Army units continue to play a central role in relief and rescue operations.
