Pakistan’s Prime Minister Launches Modern Proof-of-Life System for Pensioners

ISLAMABAD, August 20 (Nazrana Times) Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated a modern Proof-of-Life system for pensioners, saying that the new biometric and facial verification system was a major service to humanity and would benefit millions of pensioners through a modern digital system and mobile application.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Proof-of-Life Certificate for pensioners, the Prime Minister said the new system would eliminate the need for pensioners to repeatedly visit banks. The ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and other relevant officials.

The Prime Minister described the new system as a major facility for pensioners, particularly the elderly and persons with disabilities. He said the biometric and facial verification system introduced for pensioners was an important humanitarian service.

He said NADRA has provided the modern pension application and verification system free of cost, and congratulated the Finance Minister, Chairman NADRA and Secretary Finance on the initiative.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said millions of pensioners would benefit from the modern digital system and application, adding that the government was working day and night for the country’s development and prosperity.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s journey towards a Digital Pakistan was continuing, with NADRA playing a key role in this transformation.

He said modern technology was being introduced into the pension system to improve transparency and efficiency. The minister noted that the Raast payment system had already improved the speed and transparency of payments.

Muhammad Aurangzeb said facial verification had been a long-standing demand of pensioners and that the verification facility would be provided free of charge.

A video providing guidance on the issuance and use of the Proof-of-Life Certificate was also shown during the ceremony.
