Pakistan Hosts Key Muslim Nations for Urgent Talks on Iran Conflict

In a significant diplomatic development amid the ongoing US-Israeli conflict with Iran, Pakistan on Sunday hosted a high-level quadrilateral meeting involving the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt.
The talks were chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad. The visiting dignitaries included Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Hakan Fidan, and Badr Ability.
Held over two days (March 29–30, 2026), the consultations focused on “in-depth discussions on a range of issues, including efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.” Officials described the meeting as a crucial platform to assess the rapidly evolving situation and explore diplomatic pathways toward ceasefire and stability in West Asia.
The Egyptian and Turkish foreign ministers arrived in Islamabad on Saturday evening, followed by the Saudi counterpart on Sunday. During their visit, the dignitaries also held courtesy meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Pakistan has increasingly positioned itself as a key diplomatic facilitator in the crisis, reportedly conveying messages between the United States and Iran, while offering Islamabad as a potential venue for direct or indirect negotiations. The quadrilateral format builds on prior coordination among these countries during broader Arab-Islamic engagements.
On the sidelines of the main session, bilateral meetings were also conducted. Ishaq Dar held separate discussions with each visiting minister, emphasizing restraint, dialogue, and peaceful resolution to prevent further escalation.
By Sunday evening, the primary session concluded with what officials described as “positive engagement.” However, no formal joint communiqué had been released at the time of filing. Sources within the Foreign Office indicated that a joint statement outlining shared positions on de-escalation is expected soon.
The meeting follows recent telephonic discussions between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which Pakistan reiterated its commitment to peace and offered support for mediation efforts.
Analysts view the Islamabad gathering as a meaningful step by influential Muslim nations to align their diplomatic stance and build momentum toward ending the month-long conflict, which has significantly destabilized the Middle East.
Further updates, including details of the anticipated joint declaration, are awaited from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Nazrana Times will continue to monitor developments as the consultations progress.
