Pakistan Approves Additional Furnace Oil Exports as Local Demand Falls

ISLAMABAD ! Nazrana Times! Pakistan has given the green light for further exports of furnace oil amid a sustained decline in domestic consumption, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) announced.
Ogra has authorised Cnergyico Pakistan to ship up to 40,000 metric tonnes of furnace oil in June 2026, subject to the fulfilment of local supply requirements. The approval follows a recent permit granted to Pak-Arab Refinery Company (Parco) to export 100,000 metric tonnes during the same month.
With both approvals, the two refiners are now cleared to export a combined 140,000 metric tonnes, reflecting the country’s accelerating shift away from furnace oil in its energy mix.
Industry officials noted that the exports would help refineries reduce excess inventory and sustain smooth operations, while ensuring that domestic market needs continue to be met.
