“Sabeel Sab Ke Liye” Promotes Interfaith Harmony, Social Cohesion, and Faith-Based Climate Action
Lahore, 18 June 2026 Ali Imran Chattha
Members of Bargad’s Local Peace Structures (LPS) organized a community-led Social Action Project titled “Sabeel Sab Ke Liye” near Imambargah Qasr Al Imran, Green Town, Lahore, to promote interfaith harmony, social cohesion, and collective community action. The initiative brought together members of the Muslim and Christian communities, who jointly arranged and distributed cold drinks and refreshments for participants attending Muharram gatherings. As part of the activity, community members also distributed saplings under the concept of a “Green Sabeel,” linking faith, service, and environmental responsibility through simple yet meaningful climate action.
The activity was led by LPS members Fyma Butt, Saira, Abdullah, Rashid Butt, Mubarak Aftab Gill, Riffat, Rafaqat, Sana, Rukhsana, Shahida, Anees Bano, Sonu, Iftikhar, Ch. Abid, Khurram Butt, Kashif, and other community volunteers. Incharge Meesaq Center Farhan also participated in the initiative. Their collective efforts reflected strong local ownership and a shared commitment to building peaceful, inclusive, and resilient communities. Community members appreciated the initiative and actively participated in the activity, demonstrating growing trust, mutual respect, and collaboration across faith groups. The event provided a valuable opportunity for people from different backgrounds to come together in a spirit of service, solidarity, and shared responsibility.
Speaking on the occasion, Rabia Dar, Program Coordinator at Bargad, said that such community-led initiatives demonstrate how local citizens can become ambassadors of peace, inclusion, and positive social change. She noted that the joint participation of Muslim and Christian communities, coupled with climate-conscious actions such as plant distribution, reflects the values of coexistence, environmental stewardship, and collective responsibility.
Through initiatives like “Sabeel Sab Ke Liye,” Bargad continues to support grassroots efforts that strengthen interfaith harmony, social cohesion, active citizenship, and community resilience while encouraging communities to work together for a more peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable society.
