Third Phase of Miri-Piri Khalsa March to Begin from Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib to Sri Akal Takht Sahib on September 17

Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj appeals to Sikh sangat and youth to participate in large numbers

Sri Amritsar, September 14: Kanwar Partap Singh / Tajeemnoor Kaur -The third phase of the ‘Miri-Piri Khalsa March’, initiated by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) under the patronage of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, will commence on September 17 from Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib, and proceed to Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Sri Amritsar, in accordance with Panthic traditions and in full Khalsa spirit.

During the third phase, the Miri Piri Khalsa March will pass through various villages, towns and cities of the Doaba and Majha regions before culminating at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Earlier, from July 24 to September 4, the Miri-Piri Khalsa March covered nearly 650 villages across the Majha, Malwa and Puadh regions of Punjab in two phases. Along with spreading awareness about the principle of Miri-Piri, the march conveyed messages to lakhs of Sikh devotees to connect with Gurbani, become Amritdhari Sikhs, be Saabat Soorat (maintain Sikh identity with unshorn hair), shun intoxicants and drugs, earn an honest livelihood in Punjab, refrain from selling their land in Punjab, learn and read Punjabi Gurmukhi, and remain vigilant against anti-Panthic forces.

Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj said the Miri-Piri Khalsa March received an overwhelming response from the Sikh sangat during its first two phases. He said the particularly large participation of youth and children demonstrated their desire to connect with the teachings and ideals of the Sikh Gurus.

He said Punjab continues to remain in high spirits and that the need of the hour is to connect the youth with Sikhi and protect them from drugs. He said the spirit of Sikhi remains strong among the youth of Punjab and expressed hope and prayed that it would continue to remain so in the future.

He said the SGPC had completed all arrangements for the third phase of the march. He appealed to the entire Sikh sangat, particularly the youth, to participate in the Miri-Piri Khalsa March in large numbers, receive the message of Sikhi and lead their lives according to Gurmat (Guru’s wisdom).

He added that prominent personalities of the Khalsa Panth would also participate in the commencement of the third phase.
