Raza Murad Questions Absence of Bollywood’s Big Stars at Mushtaq Khan’s Funeral

MUMBAI (Nazrana Times Monitoring Cell): Veteran actor Raza Murad has questioned the absence of prominent Bollywood stars from the funeral of actor Mushtaq Khan, saying the veteran performer deserved a final farewell from leading members of the film industry.

Mushtaq Khan, known for his long career as a character and supporting actor in Hindi cinema, died in Mumbai on September 24, 2026, following a battle with cancer. His funeral was held the following day.

Several members of the film fraternity attended the funeral, including Rajpal Yadav, Rajat Bedi, Annu Kapoor and Sulabha Arya, among others. However, Murad expressed disappointment that no major Bollywood star was present to pay final respects.

In a video posted on Instagram, Murad said it was unfortunate that no “big face” from the industry had attended the funeral. Without naming any individual actor, he questioned why prominent stars could not spare around 50 minutes to bid farewell to a colleague who had devoted nearly five decades to the film industry.

Murad also contrasted the situation with the presence of film stars at high-profile social events, including weddings of wealthy business families. He argued that an artist who had spent decades working in the industry deserved similar respect from his colleagues at the time of his final farewell.

Reflecting on Mushtaq Khan’s career, Murad said the actor had established himself through his work rather than by seeking favour from influential people in the industry.

Mushtaq Khan was widely recognised for supporting and comic roles in films including Welcome, Aashiqui, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Hera Pheri and the Gadar franchise.

Conflicting Reports Over Mushtaq Khan’s Age

Initial reports from some media outlets listed Mushtaq Khan’s age as 56. However, several subsequent reports, including coverage quoting his son Mohsin Khan, reported that he was 75 at the time of his death. Given the conflicting early reports, Nazrana Times is using the later reported age of 75 while noting the discrepancy.
