European Delegation Visits Lahore, Punjab Assembly Speaker Calls for Stronger Pakistan-EU Parliamentary Ties

LAHORE, September 23 (Nazrana Times) — Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has underscored the importance of stronger parliamentary engagement between Pakistan and the European Union as a European delegation visits Lahore for meetings and engagements aimed at promoting closer ties.

According to details shared regarding the visit, discussions focused on parliamentary diplomacy and opportunities for broader cooperation between Pakistan and Europe, including areas such as trade, climate action, education and regional stability.

Welcoming greater interaction between lawmakers, Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said such visits provide an opportunity to strengthen Pakistan-EU parliamentary engagement, deepen mutual understanding and identify new areas of cooperation.

He stressed the importance of sustained parliamentary dialogue in strengthening institutional relations and building greater understanding on issues of mutual interest.

The Speaker has previously advocated expanding cooperation between the Punjab Assembly and European institutions, while highlighting parliamentary diplomacy as an important channel for strengthening institutional trust, democratic engagement and people-to-people contacts.

European Delegation Engages with Lahore

The European delegation’s Lahore programme also included an engagement with the city’s cultural heritage. Local media reported that a European delegation led by German Member of the European Parliament Tomasz Froelich visited the Lahore Museum on September 23.

The delegation included Bulgarian MEP Stanislav Stoyanov, Brandenburg state parliament member Dennis Hohloch and Belgian senior councillor Umair Khan, according to local reports.

During the museum visit, officials briefed the delegation on Lahore’s historical significance, archaeological collections and cultural heritage. The visitors toured different galleries and viewed exhibits representing the region’s history, art and cultural traditions.

The visit was described as an effort to encourage cultural links and exchanges between Pakistan and Europe.

Pakistan-EU Parliamentary Engagement

The Lahore engagements come amid continuing contacts between Pakistani and European lawmakers. On September 23, a European parliamentary delegation also met National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Islamabad, where regional and international developments and other matters of mutual interest were discussed.
