Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, participated as the Chief Guest in a seminar titled “Minority Issues in Pakistan: Political Agency or Party Proxy — The Representation Crisis”, organized by the Centre for Public Policy and Governance of Forman Christian College University (FCCU).
Addressing the seminar, the Provincial Minister stated that while minorities in Pakistan are constitutionally represented, there is a need to further improve the existing electoral mechanisms to ensure that minority representatives truly reflect the voices of their communities. He emphasized that the Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is taking concrete steps to safeguard minority rights and promote their effective political empowerment.

Ramesh Singh Arora highlighted that the inclusion of minorities in mainstream decision-making is essential for building an inclusive and cohesive society. He stressed that minority representation must go beyond symbolic presence and translate into meaningful participation and leadership.
The seminar brought together policy experts, academics, and civil society representatives who engaged in a detailed discussion on the challenges surrounding minority representation and the electoral system. The participants underscored the importance of enabling minority legislators to act independently in the best interests of their communities.
The seminar aimed to develop a comprehensive framework for strengthening political agency among minorities, ensuring their role as a robust pillar of democracy in Pakistan.
