Lahore, March 17, 2026: As Eid ul-Fitr approaches, the Punjab Home Department has issued comprehensive, multi-layered security measures to ensure peaceful celebrations across the province.
Eid ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, is expected on March 20 or 21, 2026 (1 Shawwal 1447 AH), depending on the sighting of the Shawwal moon. According to forecasts by SUPARCO, the crescent is likely to be visible on the evening of March 20, making March 21 the probable day of Eid, although the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will issue the final announcement.
A spokesperson described the initiative as a dedicated “peace and security mission,” with instructions sent to all districts and law enforcement agencies for immediate implementation.

Key measures include a three-tier security system at mosques, imambargahs, and prayer grounds, increased deployment of police personnel, and strict surveillance. Only one main entrance will be allowed at worship places, with walk-through gates, CCTV cameras, and full body checks using metal detectors.

Special arrangements include deployment of lady police officers for women, bomb disposal sweeps, and establishment of secure parking areas away from prayer sites. Security will also be heightened at markets, Eid bazaars, hotels, restaurants, and public gathering areas.

Authorities have banned the display of weapons during Eid and ordered strict monitoring of suspicious individuals, beggars, and banned organizations. Traffic plans, control rooms, and emergency services including Rescue 1122 and health teams will remain on high alert.
The Punjab Home Department has urged citizens to cooperate with authorities and report any suspicious activity to ensure a safe and joyful Eid for all.
