Data tracking vessel movements indicates that an oil tanker bound for Pakistan transited the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend, suggesting that some nations are still able to secure safe passage for their ships despite the ongoing US and Israeli conflict with Iran.
According to Marine Traffic, a vessel data provider, the Aframax-type tanker, named Karachi, was the first non-Iranian cargo vessel to traverse this route while broadcasting its automatic identification signal. This suggests that safe passage is being arranged for certain specific vessels through negotiations.
The ship is managed by the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation. It loaded crude oil from Das Island in Abu Dhabi and departed towards Pakistan after crossing the Strait of Hormuz around March 15.
Data indicates the vessel is expected to arrive in Karachi on March 17. The data also shows the ship traveled near the Iranian coast within the Strait of Hormuz before turning east towards Pakistan.
