PM Shehbaz Meets Iranian Delegation in Islamabad Talks
Islamabad, April 11, 2026:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a high-level and productive meeting with an Iranian delegation during the ongoing Islamabad Talks in the federal capital.
The Iranian side was led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, and included Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister appreciated Iran’s active participation in the Islamabad Talks, describing the forum as an important platform for dialogue on regional security, economic cooperation, and counter-terrorism. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to playing a neutral and constructive role in promoting peace and stability across the region.
Both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, expand trade cooperation, and enhance regional connectivity, particularly by linking Iran with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Key issues such as border security and energy collaboration were also reviewed.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s support for inclusive dialogue involving all stakeholders, including Afghanistan, to reduce tensions and promote economic integration.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The Islamabad Talks continue to serve as a key diplomatic platform, highlighting Pakistan’s proactive role in fostering regional peace and cooperation.
