Imran Khan’s Sister Aleema Khan Detained in Lahore Ahead of PTI’s September 27 March
LAHORE (Nazrana Times), Sept. 20, 2026: Aleema Khan, sister of jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, was detained by police at her residence in Lahore on Sunday, a week before the party’s planned march towards Islamabad. Reuters reported the detention citing a PTI Punjab spokesperson.
According to a notification issued by the Lahore district administration, Aleema Khan was ordered to be detained for 30 days over concerns that her activities and presence in public could pose a threat to public safety and order. Dawn reported that the detention order was issued under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.
The action comes as PTI prepares for a September 27 protest and march towards Islamabad, which the party says is intended to demand Imran Khan’s release from prison and mobilise supporters around constitutional issues. Authorities have also been making security preparations ahead of the planned demonstration.
PTI leaders strongly condemned Aleema Khan’s detention. Party representatives described the move as unlawful intimidation and linked it to the government’s efforts to contain the upcoming protest. These characterisations are claims made by PTI and its representatives; the authorities have cited public-order and public-safety concerns as the basis for the detention.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, according to Reuters, said the government would take necessary measures to prevent the planned protest, while PTI officials maintained that their political mobilisation would continue.
