Chandigarh, October 21 , Mangat Singh Saidpur – Giani Harpreet Singh, President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar-Surjit), stated in a written press release that the decision to hand over the murder case of Parvinder Singh Jhota to the CBI is a victory for the unwavering resolve of the martyr’s entire family—including his elderly father—as well as the unified struggle waged by the people of Punjab. Giani Harpreet Singh remarked that this proves that when people remain united and stand firm on their demands, the government is compelled to reach out to them, listen to their concerns, and ultimately accede to their demands. He further noted that the father of the martyr, Parvinder Singh, demonstrated remarkable wisdom and discernment throughout this struggle—a testament to his character as a steadfast and resilient Sikh. Furthermore, the call to action issued by the wife of the late Parvinder Singh, urging villagers to combat the drug menace, is highly commendable. This is precisely the approach required: the work initiated by the martyr should be transformed into a mass movement, extending to the village level, where drug traffickers face a complete social boycott and total isolation. How much longer must we wait—relying on the government—while watching our sons perish due to drugs or at the hands of drug traffickers? In the concluding part of his statement, Giani Harpreet Singh appealed to all Punjabis to take up the cause against drug traffickers, using the sacrifice of the late Parvinder Singh as a guiding beacon—rather than waiting for yet another person to be martyred. Only by building a collective movement can they save their dying children. This statement was released to the press by Media In-charge Tajinder Singh Pannu.
