ETPB-Administered Commemorative Ceremonies for 163rd Death Anniversary of Baba Bankhandi Maharaj Commence at Sadhu Bela Temple

SUKKUR (June 29, 2026): The three-day commemorative ceremonies marking the 163rd death anniversary of the revered Hindu spiritual figure, Baba Bankhandi Maharaj, officially commenced at the historic and sacred Hindu worship site, Sadhu Bela Temple, located on an island in the middle of the River Indus. The events are being administered by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Government of Pakistan.

The commemorative rituals, which will continue from June 29 to July 1, 2026, have drawn thousands of devotees from the Hindu community across the country, who are actively participating in the religious proceedings.

The Evacuee Trust Property Board has made comprehensive arrangements for the pilgrims, including:

· Accommodation
· Langar (free community kitchen)
· Transport services
· Boat transportation to and from the island temple
· Medical aid and emergency first-aid
· Fool-proof security measures
Statement by ETPB Additional Secretary (Shrines):
Additional Secretary Shrines, Evacuee Trust Property Board, Naser Mushtaq, stated that these arrangements have been carried out under the special directives and close supervision of ETPB Chairman Qamar-uz-Zaman. He emphasized that this religious event reflects the Government of Pakistan's firm commitment to ensuring religious freedom, protecting the sacred sites of minority communities, and promoting interfaith harmony at every level.
The main ceremonial events will conclude on July 1, while a further influx of devotees is expected over the next two days.
