Khalsa Protest March Demands Holy City Status for Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Amritsar Sahib

Sri Anandpur Sahib, July 27 (Nazrana Times Network)

A powerful Khalsa Ros March (Khalsa Protest March) was carried out today from Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, the birthplace of the Khalsa Panth, to Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib. The march was organized by the Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara Committee in protest against the broken promises by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann to declare Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Amritsar Sahib as holy cities.

Throughout the march, slogans were raised demanding the release of Bandi Singhs (Sikh political prisoners) and for giving these spiritual cities their rightful status. Protesters held banners highlighting threats to Sikh identity and injustice toward the Sikh community.

Several major organizations participated in the march, including the Akhhand Kirtani Jatha, Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwale, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee, Samaj Sudhar Sanstha Punjab, and multiple farmer unions.

Prof. Baljinder Singh and Bapu Gurcharan Singh, leaders from the Hawara Committee, questioned why cities like Mathura, Ayodhya, and Haridwar are granted holy city status, while the cities of Guru Sahib are neglected. They demanded model city development for Sri Anandpur Sahib and criticized the economic burden placed on Punjab by AAP’s Delhi-based leadership.

The leaders warned that if the status is not granted soon, it will be seen as a direct challenge to Sikh Takhts (seats of authority), and the consequences may not be peaceful. They declared that the struggle on this issue will continue until justice is done.

Prominent figures present included Ranjit Singh Bhoma, Dr. Sevak Singh, Harsimrat Singh, Mahabir Singh Sultanwind, and members of the five Singh-led leadership panel such as Bhai Satnam Singh Khanda, Bhai Satnam Singh Jhanjian, Bhai Tarloak Singh, and Gurinder Singh Gogi. Also in attendance were various social, legal, and religious leaders like Jasbir Singh Jammu (Advocate), Bhupinder Singh 6 June, Kamaldeep Kaur Nihang, Baba Pritpal Singh, and more.

The event concluded with a united message: “Both cities must be declared holy, or further agitation will follow.”
