Protest Scheduled for October 10 Over Demand for Chief Election Commissioner’s Resignation; Police Tighten Security Across National Capital

NEW DELHI, October 9, 2026 (Nazrana Times): Security arrangements have been intensified across the national capital ahead of a major protest scheduled for Saturday, October 10, by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

According to media reports, approximately 23,000 personnel from central security forces have been mobilised to assist Delhi Police in maintaining law and order during the proposed demonstration.

Protest Over Electoral Roll Revision

The demonstration, reportedly organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) along with the All India Students’ Association (AISA), is expected to focus on concerns surrounding the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Protest organisers have raised allegations of irregularities in the electoral roll revision process and demanded greater transparency and accountability from the Election Commission.

These allegations remain disputed and should not be treated as established findings.

Massive Security Deployment

According to reports, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has made 221 companies of Central Armed Police Forces available to support Delhi Police between October 8 and 12.

The deployment, involving approximately 23,000 personnel, is intended to strengthen security arrangements, prevent disturbances and maintain public order.

Additional security measures are expected around sensitive locations, government establishments and major transport routes.

Police Deny Permission for Demonstration

Delhi Police have reportedly refused permission for the proposed gathering, citing procedural requirements and concerns regarding public safety.

Despite the reported refusal, authorities are preparing for possible gatherings and disruptions in parts of central Delhi.

Security agencies are expected to maintain heightened vigilance around Jantar Mantar and other important locations.

Traffic and Public Transport Advisory

Commuters may face restrictions or diversions in certain areas of the capital depending on security requirements.

Residents and visitors have been advised to follow official traffic and public transport announcements before travelling through central Delhi.

Political and Public Attention

The proposed demonstration comes amid continuing debate over electoral transparency, voter registration procedures and the independence of constitutional institutions.

While the organisers have demanded the Chief Election Commissioner’s resignation, any allegations concerning the electoral revision process require independent examination.

The situation remains under close observation, with authorities focused on maintaining public safety and preventing disruption during the scheduled protest.
