LAHORE — Nazrana Times Ali Imran Chattha
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to establish a major Tech Park City on Ferozepur Road, near Arfa Karim Tower, with the project aimed at creating a new commercial and information-technology hub in Lahore.
According to Punjab government officials, the project will be developed on approximately 119 kanals of LDA-owned land, which previously housed a fruit and vegetable market before being relocated to Kahna.
Under the proposed plan, around 50 kanals will be allocated for commercial development. Additional land will be designated for a public building, parks, roads and a dedicated parking facility.
The LDA plans to involve the private sector by offering commercial plots of different sizes through auction. Buildings of up to 72 feet, equivalent to ground plus five floors, will be permitted, while designated areas will allow buildings up to 90 feet, or ground plus six floors.
The authority expects to generate approximately Rs13.566 billion through the auction of commercial plots. A further Rs45 million is estimated from leasing sites for a petrol pump and food outlet.
The first open auction of plots is scheduled for October 14, 2026, with additional plots expected to be auctioned during 2027 and 2028.
LDA officials say the project is intended to encourage investment and strengthen business activity in Lahore’s growing IT sector.
Given its proximity to Arfa Karim Tower and its location along strategically important Ferozepur Road, the proposed Tech Park City could potentially develop into a major technology and business cluster in Lahore.
However, its eventual success will depend on actual private-sector investment, infrastructure development and timely implementation of the project.
