LAHORE (Nazrana Times): A Lahore family court has granted a khula decree to Mehnaz, wife of veteran Pakistani film actor Moammar Rana, formally dissolving their marriage of nearly 28 years.

Family Court Judge Zahid Bashir issued the decree on a petition filed by Mehnaz through her counsel, Barrister Khadija Siddiqui. During the proceedings, the court was informed that she did not wish to reconcile with the actor.

According to accounts of the proceedings, Mehnaz told the court that she was unwilling to continue living with Rana under any circumstances.

Petition Alleges Mistreatment and Financial Neglect

In her petition, Mehnaz alleged that Rana subjected her to abuse and verbal mistreatment, particularly after consuming alcohol. She also alleged that he verbally abused her in front of their daughters, Rea and Raneya, causing them emotional distress.

She further claimed that the actor had failed to fulfil his financial responsibilities towards the household. According to her petition, family members repeatedly attempted to address his behaviour, but he allegedly refused to seek treatment.

These allegations form part of Mehnaz’s petition and have not been independently verified.

Couple Married in October 1998

Rana and Mehnaz married on October 24, 1998, during a successful period in his film career. They have two adult daughters.

A Career Across Film and Television

Born on February 26, 1974, Moammar Rana established himself in Pakistani cinema through romantic and action roles. He began his film career in 1996 with a supporting lead role in “Kudiyon Ko Dale Dana”.

His breakthrough came with the success of “Deewane Tere Pyar Ke” in 1997, which helped establish him as a romantic lead. His film credits include “Choorian”, “Kudiyon Ko Dale Dana” and “Azaadi”.

Directed by Syed Noor, the 1998 film “Choorian” is described in reports as the highest-grossing Pakistani Punjabi film of its time, with reported box-office earnings of approximately PKR 200 million.

Media accounts credit Rana with appearances in more than 300 films. He has also worked in television, including dramas such as “Dil, Diya, Dehleez”, “Mehram” and “Ishq Ibadat”.

His Indian film credits include “Dobara”, released in 2004, and “Ek Second… Jo Zindagi Badal De?”.

Rana Had Expressed Hope for Reconciliation

Before the final decree, Rana confirmed that he had signed court documents relating to the divorce. In an emotional statement, he said he continued to love his family and hoped that the marriage could still be saved.

He also said his brothers had supported him during the difficult period, while his wife and children were no longer living with him.

Javeria Saud Offers Support

Actress Javeria Saud, a longtime friend of the couple, described the separation as deeply heartbreaking. She highlighted the impact of family breakdown on children and prayed for peace and strength for both Rana and Mehnaz.

The khula decree formally ends a relationship that spanned nearly three decades.
