Shiromani Committee observed the Gurta Gaddi Day of Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib as Environment Day

Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib performed at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall

The Gurta Gaddi Day of the seventh Guru, Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji, was observed today as Environment Day by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. On this occasion, the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib was performed at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, associated with Sri Darbar Sahib.
The Hazoori Raagi Jatha of Bhai Balwinder Singh performed Gurbani Kirtan. The Ardas was offered by Bhai Baljit Singh, and the holy Hukamnama was read to the Sangat by Granthi Singh Sahib Giani Baljit Singh from Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib.


Giani Baljit Singh shared thoughts with the Sangat about the life history of Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji. He said that the seventh Guru conveyed the message of environmental protection by planting gardens at Sri Kiratpur Sahib. The Shiromani Committee, being a representative Sikh institution, observes the Guru’s Gurta Gaddi Day every year as Environment Day to inspire the Sangat to plant more trees in accordance with the Guru’s teachings. He also extended greetings to the Sangat on this occasion and encouraged everyone to plant more trees.


On this occasion, Giani Baljit Singh and Manager S. Bhagwant Singh Dhangera planted saplings in Guru Ka Bagh, located between Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall and Langar Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, as a tribute to the Guru and to promote environmental conservation.
Present on the occasion were Manager of Sri Darbar Sahib S. Narinder Singh Mathrewal, S. Jaspal Singh Dhadde, Additional Manager S. Iqbal Singh Mukhi, S. Bikramjit Singh Jhangi, S. Yuvraj Singh, Chief S. Jagdish Singh Butter, S. Gurpratap Singh, and others.
