The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) has successfully restored approximately 95% of its power supply in areas affected by the recent floods, despite severe damage to electrical infrastructure. The restoration effort was led by Chairman Mujahid Ullah Chattha and CEO Jamil Ayub, with teams working around the clock to provide relief to residents.

Officials stated that the next phase will involve repairing damaged transformers and addressing individual consumer complaints as families return to their homes. Public safety has been prioritized, with thorough inspections conducted before energizing any affected networks. Remarkably, no electrocution-related casualties were reported during the crisis.

Federal Minister for Water and Power, Sardar Owais Khan Leghari, visited GEPCO headquarters to praise the company’s performance, describing its restoration strategy as a model for other regions. During his visit, he also held online meetings with MNAs and MPAs from flood-affected areas, listening to their feedback and assuring swift resolution of remaining issues.

The Minister lauded GEPCO’s speed, dedication, and coordination, noting that the company’s efforts set a new benchmark for disaster response in the power sector.
