The Azad Kashmir Election Commission and the Punjab government's worst-ever rigging and fascism have been exposed.
LAHORE ( Nazrana Times) Ali Imran Chattha
Saba Diwan, wife of independent candidate and central leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Ghulam Mohiuddin Diwan, has rejected the so-called election results and announced that she will challenge them in the High Court. She stated that in LA-41 Valley II, the Punjab government broke all records of rigging from Ghulam Mohiuddin's arrest to election day itself.
She expressed these views during a press conference at her residence, where PTI officials Mirza Sadiq Jiral, Saqib Salim Butt Tippu, Farooq Azad, Iqra Asad, and Zaka Diwan were also present.
Saba Diwan further said that Ghulam Mohiuddin Diwan has been serving the people as an MLA from LA-41 Valley II for the past 30 years. The Muslim League (N) had been trying for years to get Ghulam Mohiuddin Diwan to join their party, but he flatly refused. The Punjab government knew that they could not defeat Ghulam Mohiuddin Diwan in a transparent election under any circumstances, so they had him arrested two months ago in a false case to prevent him from participating in the electoral process. When voters strongly demanded it, I was compelled to enter the election process, but even I was pressured by the Punjab Police. I was not allowed to campaign or hold corner meetings. Voter lists were suddenly changed, and votes of family members living in the same house were transferred to separate, far-flung areas.
On election day, our polling agents were thrown out of rooms, and wherever a few polling agents could not be removed, they were subjected to violence instead of being given the election results. She told that she repeatedly complained to the Returning Officer against this conduct of the Punjab Police, but he kept giving false reassurances. Our written applications were refused to be received. Similarly, she also spoke to the Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Kashmir against this rigging, but no action was taken against those responsible.
She said that before the elections, they had also demanded from the Chief Election Commissioner that the elections be held under the supervision of the armed forces instead of the Punjab Police, because the Punjab Police has become a household servant of the Muslim League (N). But this demand was ignored, and the Punjab Police was given the opportunity to rig. She said that they have registered complaints on the Election Commission's portal with evidence against the rigging, and have now decided to go to court against this rigged election.
She said that at this time, Kashmiri people across Azad Kashmir are in full protest mode. Today, in the electoral process, it has been proven that those protesting were right — that instead of transparent elections, people are brought into the Kashmir Assembly through rigging.
Speaking on the occasion of August 5, Saba Diwan said that today across Pakistan, people are also in full protest against the arrest of Imran Khan.
