To commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) organized a grand Gurmat Samagam at Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Nauvin, Handiaya (Barnala). The event was attended by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, Jathedar Baba Tek Singh of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, and many other prominent personalities.

After the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, renowned Raagi jathas performed Gurbani Kirtan, and Singh Sahib Giani Amarjeet Singh, Additional Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib, inspired the sangat with spiritual guidance from Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s bani.

In his address, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom holds great significance in world religious history. By sacrificing his life, the Ninth Guru safeguarded the Hindu faith and stood firmly against tyranny. He emphasized that had Guru Sahib not embraced martyrdom, the fate of the nation would have been entirely different.

Dhami further shared that it is heartening to witness participation from people of all faiths in the Shaheedi Nagar Kirtan, which began from Assam and will enter Punjab in late October before culminating at Sri Anandpur Sahib in November during the centenary events.

The Samagam also featured an exhibition on Sikh history by SGPC schools and colleges, a photo display, and stalls of religious books. A special Amrit Sanchar was also held where 326 devotees received the gift of Amrit.

Several SGPC members, Sikh leaders, and dignitaries were present at the event.
