Lahore to Host 10-Day Basant Festival from January 29 to February 7

Lahore is set to come alive with colours, culture and celebration as a 10-day Basant festival is scheduled to be held from January 29 to February 7, 2027.
The festival will showcase Lahore’s traditional spring culture, with kite-flying and other cultural activities planned under a regulated framework.
The celebrations will observe a one-day break on February 5 in connection with Kashmir Day, with festivities resuming afterwards.
Punjab authorities have directed relevant departments to begin preparations well in advance, with a focus on public convenience, traffic management and safety arrangements during the celebrations.
Strict measures will remain in place regarding kite-flying materials, particularly dangerous and prohibited kite strings. Authorities will also monitor the manufacture, sale, transportation and use of restricted materials to minimise risks to citizens.
The 10-day programme is expected to provide residents and visitors an opportunity to experience Lahore’s traditional Basant culture while ensuring that celebrations are conducted in accordance with safety regulations.
