Sri Amritsar, March 31 — Kanwar Partap Singh
In-charge of the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Bagicha Singh, has strongly condemned mischievous elements for allegedly distorting and circulating on social media a video of Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj from a recent Gurmat Samagam held in Batala.
He stated that the respected Jathedar strictly adheres to Sikh principles and maryada (religious code of conduct) and cannot, under any circumstances, act against it. Refuting claims made in the viral video, he clarified that the portrayal suggesting that Hon’ble Jathedar bowed at the feet of an Akali leader is incorrect.
Explaining the actual sequence of events, he said that after addressing the congregation upon the request of the stage secretary, Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj was about to sit after receiving siropa (honour). Meanwhile, the stage secretary invited the concerned Akali leader—who was present on stage alongside the Jathedar—to speak. However, the Akali leader declined, stating that since the Jathedar Sahib had already addressed the gathering, there was no need for him to speak. In the full video, the Akali leader can also be seen moving the microphone aside.
During this moment, Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, who was in the process of sitting down, suddenly stood up again and joined other dignitaries standing on the stage. Bagicha Singh said that this sequence was maliciously edited and presented out of context to malign the high status of the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, which is unacceptable.
He also warned social media platforms that shared the misleading video to refrain from such actions and to remove the distorted content. He urged people not to engage in or support any form of malicious propaganda and to uphold truth while remaining guided by the teachings of the Guru.
He further added that certain mischievous forces are attempting to weaken Sri Akal Takht Sahib by creating confusion among the Sikh community regarding its authority and the respected Jathedars, and called upon the Khalsa Panth and the Sangat to remain vigilant against such attempts.
